Fall Global Flavors: A World of Fall Delights (K-6th)

Your kids will have a blast cooking up and devouring our exciting, tasty, and healthy recipes. Our interactive classes incorporate S.T.E.A.M., culture, language, and more, led by our experienced Chef Instructors. Allergies are always accommodated, and our plant-forward recipes are nut-free. Explore our lineup of ever changing weekly recipes and join us to WHIP up some culinary fun all year! Our cooking classes are perfect for all ages!

 

Homework and Basketball Club (2nd-6th)

30 minutes of homework in 30 minutes of basketball either indoor or outdoor.

 

Robopet Robotics (K-4th)

In this course, your builder will begin their exploration into the world of robotics by building simple, animal-inspired machines that are controlled by icon-based program codes. We will teach your little learner some fundamental engineering and programming concepts as they build goofy animals and design perfect habitats to protect their new robotic friends. Maybe you can't have an alligator as a pet at home, but you can definitely build one in our classroom at Snapology!

 

Beginner Karate (K-6th)

This class is offered by a Kent Gardens Elementary school mom who is an international Certified black belt Instructor!! This class is designed for all belt levels ages 5–11. Students learn the basic levels of martial arts while participating in a fun, exciting atmosphere. Class is tailored to student’s individual needs and helps them grow to their fullest potential. Karate classes not only focus on instruction, but also learning valuable lessons related to discipline, motivation, self-control, and continual improvement. No previous training is required! The activities included: Basic self-defense skills, traditional karate forms known as Kata, tumbling skills/agility, a variety of Martial Arts activities, exciting/fun games, leadership training, board breaking, performance & awards (Trophies)!!! Character development, respect and self-control are promoted during the training to help students cope with life pressures. The instructor for this class is a highly qualified Black Belt with international Instructor certification through the IWKA and Penn State Karate. The Instructor for this class - Sensei Mami Gebereegziabher - Renshigo 5th Degree Black belt. Martial Art uniforms are included in the cost of the class!


 


TUESDAYS

Coding (3rd-6th)

It’s a fun coding class where students will learn foundational concepts using Scratch and then progress to Python. Scratch provides an engaging, visual introduction to coding, helping students understand the basics of programming logic and structure. Once they are comfortable with Scratch, they will move on to Python, a versatile and widely used programming language, to deepen their understanding and explore more advanced coding concepts.

 

Cheer Stars (K-6th)

Our ADF Cheer class is designed to introduce students to the exciting world of cheerleading! We will work on motion and jump technique, stunting, cheer dances and more! Our Cheer Coaches are current and former college and professional level cheerleaders with a passion to teach! Class will focus on exercises to improve strength, showmanship and execution technique in a positive, team environment. We will conclude with a showcase for parents and friends at the end of the session!

 

Middle School Math and Pre Algebra (5th-6th)

Taught by a veteran FCPS Math teacher turned stay at home dad, this class covers the Pre Algebra concepts learned in Grade 7 and Grade 8 Math classes. Learn all the best tips and tricks to help your student work ahead on above grade level content! This rigorous class is aimed at students interested in taking Algebra I in 7th or 8th grade. Great for students looking to pass the IAAT. Class will consist of an even mix of independent practice, highly engaging and top quality whole class instruction, and a time to go over homework questions. Favorite PE Games (3rd-6th)

This is an opportunity for students in Grades 3-6 to come after school and play your favorite ALL TIME PE game. We will play Four Square, we will play Three Ball, we will play Kick ball, we will play MANY MANY more of your favorites you will get a chance to vote on!

 

Creative Creations (2nd-4th)

This class is designed to bring out the big artists in your elementary schoolers! A variety of seasonal projects that include painting, sculpture, drawing, and mixed media will be offered, and each week your child will be excited to bring home their completed masterpiece. All projects are sure to spark your child's imagination and will provide a fun and engaging hands-on creative experience for all!


WEDNESDAYS

Poppin Piano (K-4th)

Students will participate in a music group. Students will learn about the instrument as well as how to play in a music group.   

FREE Rental instrument and curriculum included!  Instruments and music are intended for in class AND at home practice.  Rental Instrument must be returned at the last class.

 

Young Musketeers Fencing (1st-6th)

Is your child bursting with energy and imagination? Young Musketeers is the perfect program to transform that energy into focus, teamwork, and FUN! Turn your child's energy into awesome skills! Young Musketeers use safe fencing to teach teamwork, focus, and critical thinking. Kids build coordination, speed, and make friends in a fun, engaging one hour after school class.Learn cool sword skills: Footwork, blade-work, and strategies will make them feel like a real Musketeer! Build a strong body and mind: Fencing is a fantastic way to improve coordination, speed, and critical thinking. Make new friends and have a blast: Group exercises, drills, and even friendly bouts; (practice matches) create a fun and engaging environment!

 

Capturing Creativity: Introduction to Photography (3rd-6th)

Say cheese! Join us for an adventure through the lens as we explore the art of photography. In this program, elementary school students will learn the fundamentals of capturing stunning images while unleashing their creativity. From mastering composition and lighting to experimenting with perspective, participants will embark on exciting photo missions that showcase the beauty of the world around them. Whether using a smartphone or a professional camera, this program promises to develop a lifelong passion for photography.

 

Foundational Engineering (K-3rd)

Does your little learner love to tinker and create new things, or are they the kind of learner who likes to break things apart to see what’s inside? If so, they’re going to love Snapology’s Foundational Engineering: Machines and Contraptions program! This program gives your student the tools they need to understand mechanical movement and the importance of simple machines. They will see these moving parts up-close as they follow instructions to build various machines and contraptions, then use the models to develop new design ideas, test out physics concepts, and even play games with their partners and classmates. Whether they are the creative-constructive type or prefer the inquisitive-deconstructive way of learning, this program is sure to spark their engineering interests!

 

Girls Volleyball (5th-6th)

This class is an introduction to volleyball. We will work on fundamental skills- serving, passing, setting, and hitting. Our goal is practice skills, learn to work as a team, and most importantly, encourage a love for volleyball. 


THURSDAYS

Science: Potions & Explosions! (K-5th)

Let’s have fun with Chemistry! In this program, we will create “magic” potions and exciting chemical reactions that will blow your mind. Erupt a volcano, make indoor snow, grow crystals, blast a rocket into the air, and more. We will learn about the states of matter and how things change with mixtures, solutions and chemical reactions. Join us to channel your inner Professor Snape!

 

Wonderful World of Weaving (2nd-6th)

Learn about and create different types of weaving projects with Ms. Kladler! Students will be able to choose from making tapestries, pocket weavings, baskets, circular weavings, and more. 

 

Basketball Skills and Fundamentals Academy (3rd-6th)

Get a jump start on your winter basketball season and start reaching your basketball goals with my basketball skills academy.! This academy will help boost your confidence and improve your all around game as you develop your individual basketball skills from Mr. Avery, a coach with 25 years of coaching experience, including 6 years at Paul VI and the past 8 years with Team Durant's AAU organization on the Nike EYBL Circuit. In my 25 years I've coached more than 75 Division 1 players, including 2 who were Drafted in the 1st round of the NBA, one was a lottery pick. Register now for this one-of-a-kind opportunity.


FRIDAYS

Fall: Masters of Impressionism! (1st-5th)

Join us this Fall as we explore the exciting world of Impressionism! Learn about how these famous artists changed the world of art using their imaginations and explosions of color. In this class you’ll create pinch pots, coil pots and slab hand built pottery from start to finish. You’ll even get a chance to glaze your own pottery. Our materials are professional grade stoneware and get fired in our kiln making the pieces both beautiful and functional! Ready to explore? Come on and let’s get muddy! 

 

Jedi Masters (K-6th)

Students will not only deepen their Star Wars knowledge to an envious level, they will step into the universe as Jedi, starting out as Younglings and transcending the ranks into Jedi Masters! They will undergo tests and challenges that mimic those of their greatest heroes, all while building their engineering skills, creativity, and testing their communication and teamwork skills. Students will gladly embrace the challenges of organizing group builds, communicating roles, learning from their mistakes and improving their techniques as increasingly complex LEGO build challenges and teamwork activities lay before them. However, the sheer desire to prove they are worthy Jedi will motivate students to show off their skills in ways they might have second guessed, if not for the pressure of saving the Galaxy!

 

Advanced Karate (1st-6th)

Advanced Isshinryu Karate is a fun-filled, comprehensive fitness and self-defense program. Physical fitness, personal safety, focus/discipline, confidence, self-esteem, self-defense, and self-control are a part of the everyday fun! This program is for students that are ready to take their martial arts training to the next level. We offer an advanced program for children 1st-6th grades (K upon approval). Students will continue to improve and add to their Isshinryu Karate technique, while incorporating other advanced training with belt/rank specific testing. Students in our advanced program will have opportunities to participate in karate tournaments and international night performances. There will be an assessment for belt replacement. Martial Art uniforms are included in the cost of the class!
